Not only have the Moors farmed in Digby since the late 1920s the owner is actually related to Thomas Hardy below is one of many poems which were written and published by his late mum, Margaret Hardy Moor. Hence why we have Maggies Meadow. I hope you enjoy the poem as much as we do!
The Babbling brook, the wide arched sky,
Beloved by a poet much greater than I.
The winding lane on a winter’s day,
So quiet and still no desire to stay,
‘Cept wonder at the mill’s full race,
And hedgerows adorned in great cobwebs of lace.
I will walk again the well trod way
When summer sun invites me to stay
And linger awhile, in perfect peace
Away from the world where troubles cease
To invade my thoughts and crowd my mind
For her tranquility I will sure find.
